He's asking $10,995 for this car. It's blue on tan and has two sets of rims and two sets of tires. He just had it detailed although I haven't seen the pictures of it yet. I'm interested in this car but what kind of repairs would I experience at 116k? Is this a good deal the way it sounds?

I'll let the G35 owners pipe in with their experiences but the motor itself is fine as long as the previous owner kept up with it. The VQ is a great engine and should easily see way north of 200k with proper maint.

My other choice is a blue/black g35x with 126,000 miles for $10,500. Would this still be reliable or does it have too many miles on it?

Miles itself doesn't do justice. As it was mentioned before VQ can pack up mileage with proper maintenance. You have to make sure it is well kept. Unfortunatelly most of the high mileage used sales coming from people getting sick of repairs or there is a $ repair in the way and they try to sell it. Not here to scare you just trying to be realistic.

Make sure you get the repair history of the car and check the car thru.

My major repairs over 100k miles

17-Nov-09 101599 miles $267.50 New Hood Hinges Infiniti

8-Jan-10 106682 miles $867.44 #33 oil change at Infiniti New plugs, belts coolant flush, throttle body cleaner, tire rotation

29-Oct-10 127579 miles $1,643.52 new drivers side air bag module new lower control arms new wipers

If I were buying a used car (which I won't) I would pay to have it checked at an Infiniti dealer. Anything major is negotable off the price.

My 2006 Infiniti has been the best vehicle I have ever owned and beats my previous 92 Lexus. I've given it 41 oil changes thus far but not everyone changes oil at 3.5k miles like I do.

i had my 2005 G35x from 18k-71K miles

major repairs:

front brakes at 30k miles
transmission flush at 30k miles
warranty work for fuel dampers
replacement battery
rear diff fluid change
AWD diff fluid change

when i traded my 2005 g35 with 71k miles it still ran like new and i far from babied my car... if dude kept up with the maintence they car should be fine.

at 100K spark plugs are needed, and the next series of flushing all fluids...

$200 range for spark plug replacement
$100 range for rear diff
$100 range for radiator fluid
$50 oil/filter change
$100 range in cabin filter
$80 range for air filter
brakes/brake fluid

if these and some others havent been done... you have to factor these in when buying the car... hopefully most have been done... if not then dude might not of been taking care of the car...

Looking at an '04 g35x with 90,000 miles. Are there any major expenses at that point?

It has new brakes and tires, NAV and everything for $13k

Update!
On 16th of March 2011 my G needed a new wiring harness to repair a flashing air bag light.
Orginally the dealer wanted $2200.00
After some hard negotiation the cost was split 3 ways between the dealer,Infiniti, and myself and ended up cosing me $740.00

Image

18 June 11 4 new Michlin 235-45-18 tires and a new tire pressure sensor ran $1554.00 including 4 wheel alignment and balancing

Chris:

Keep a couple of grand in a repair or a WTF just happened account just in case
enjoy

wow that harness is long... it always kinda makes me mad how much wire harnesses cost... all you paying for really is the labor to make it... material wise wire cost nothing...
