Hi,I just bought a 04 Infinity G35 coupe with Automatic transmission. When I am on the highway driving at 65 MPH but rpm is around 2800. Also when I driving at 65 MPH and shift to the manual, the manual gear is always 4 not 5.Do 2800 rpm sound right for 65-70 mph. I am a new Infinity owner and not too aware about the car.

Thanks

When you shift to manual does the rpm stay at 2800?

it pretty much stays the same. I previously had an a02 acura tl and the rpm was much lower at 70 mph. I just bought this infinity its a 04. coupe with clean carfax and 75000 miles. Are they any known issues with the car?

where did you get the y? I have no Idea where so many people get it.The car goes into 4th gear by default. Thats just how its programmed. Under even load, the engine should be spinning at 2450-2600 rpm in 5th gear at 65mph. if its at 2800 then you're either under load, or the transmission is still not at operating temp. You can shift it up into 5th gear if you want. If you shift from D to manual mode and click it up about a third of a second after it slides over, you can get it to click to 5th and it won't go into 4th. 2004 models dont have too many issues. One thing you should be aware of, is that your car should be spelled Infiniti, I believe there are many reminders of that, both on the back of the vehicle, as well as the kick plate, maybe floor mat, your registration, and the seat stitching as well. Dont worry, I ride everyone for that

You got a good car, it does automatically shift into 4th when using manual mode, even if you're at a crawl in traffic.

If I was doing 65mph, I would be at about 2150 - 2200 rpm. Hopefully you get it worked out.

The G's are sweet, you'll love learning stuff on this site Lots to learn.
