Post

I have a 2004 Infiniti G35 with the check engine light on which is causing the car to fail New York state inspection.

I read the codes and I get a P1706 which is the PNP. The car runs fine. I've read conflicting information online however as per the PNP. I have seen some places say the the PNP is part of the TCM. And I have also seen that the PNP is located in the transmission above the transmission pan. I have already replaced the TCM once and still have the code coming on.

I have also read where someone else had this code and ended replacing the combination switch to solve the problem.

Where is the PNP located? Will replacing the PNP solve the P1706 code? Does the combination switch have anything to do with this code?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to NICO.

Refer to the link below, starting on page EC-540. BTW, I will delete your post in the Maxima/I30/I35 forum so as not confuse other members.

According to the information you sent, the combination meter is one possible cause for the P1706 PNP code. The cruise control also does not work and has not worked since this code came on. Does the combination meter play a role in cruise control?

Probably. Follow the steps to fix the current code and see if it solves the problem. Worse case is another code will come up for the next issue in line.
