245/50/17 ?255/45/17 ?

Currently, have 235/50/17 Yoko S-Drives with 4/32's on the pass side and tired of it spinning. Driver's side has better tread.

I plan on sticking with the 225/50/17 size on the fronts when they go.

my advice...get some OEM 19's! 245/35-19 up front and 275/35-19 rears...very nice looking setup!

Oh yes! I agree!!! Love the OEM's! But, that cost extra $$$, so while we have kids in college, no can do.

With 17" rims stay away from 45 profile sidewall tires. Your car will bottom out.

You can run 255/50/17 on a stock rim and it looks pretty good front and back.

I used to run 225/35 and 245/35 when I had the 17s. Plus im lowered. I had those for about 3 months and I destroyed 2 y-pipes, a front lip, and my muffler hahah

The side wall of the 235/50/17 should be very close to the 255/45/17, so how could it bottom out?? No plans to lower the coupe.

255/50/17 is too tall and looks like complete a** to boot. If you don't plan on lowering the car then run the 245/50/17.

But, will I feel any difference with such a small change in width?

After my 97 cobra got sideways with me in second gear one time, I changed from 245/45/17 to 275/40/17 at the corners and didn't have the problem.Plus, it stopped spinning so much on take off (rt turns/left turns).

I went from 235/50/17 to 25/50/17 it made a big difference

who makes a 245/50/17?

What is the sidewall height on a 255/45/17 and who makes them?

Good point, doesn't appear that Yoko makes one based on tirerack. Was thinking about trying something different on the rear anyway.

No Yoko's here... but tirerack shows other brands.

Jeff, Is the height question a trick question???

And, I don't think going to 245 will reallly make a difference....

Only in that I am lazy

Go buy the Kumho SPT 255/50/17. It is 27.1" tall on a 8" wide rimA 255/45/17 is is 26.1 " tall on a 8" wide rim.

A 235/50/17 is 26.3" tall on a 7.5" wide rim for reference.

I don't know how a Red Det can pick up a less then 1" height difference between tire sizes and somehow in that small measure one tire looks like a** at you Det

My 07 G can spin a 235 forever leaving the line. The 255 give a sqwak and then hooks up and goes. The 235 chirps sometimes on the 1-2 shift the 255 never chirps.

Go with a 255/45/17 or 255/50/17 whichever is the best deal.

I like the look of fat tires.

Thanks guys.I'm thinking 255 or stick with what I have......or, maybe I need LSD....or maybe go back to a 97 cobra, drop it, add the 275's like what I had and....... nope, I just love driving my G coupe!

I may go with 255/45/17 next time if they are cheaper then 255/50/17.

I thought you wanted a taller tire to go faster....straight line??Had 275/45/17 on my cobra and they were great with my steeda springs & cc plates!!! Except, as a DD the 275's tracked all over the place and wish I had stayed with 245 on the fronts. Was also talked into a very aggressive alignment by a friend who raced his cobra in American Iron
