I installed a new window motor with the window in the down position. The new motor out of the box was in the up position and so it would only just move window slightly. So I disengaged it and ran motor to the up position for about 5 to 10 seconds and re-installed it. Now window goes all the way up and then pops down about 4 inches. It will only stay up if switch is held approx. 5 to 10 seconds.
Infiniti dealer told us to put window up all the way and hold for 10 seconds, then all the way down and hold for 10 seconds, but this did not solve the problem.

well of course the dealer isn't going to give you all the good info and then not make a profit off you :rotfl im thinking this will help you out tho sucks youll prolly have to take it back apart but at least the auto function should work right again (out of infiniti factory service manuals)

FRONT DOOR GLASS AND REGULATOR
SETTING AFTER INSTALLATION Setting of Limit Switch If any of the following work has been done, set the limit switch (integrated in the motor). ● Removal and installation of the regulator. ● Removal and installation of the motor from the regulator. ● Operate the regulators as a unit. ● Removal and installation of the glass.
Resetting
After installing each component to the vehicle, follow the steps below.
1. Raise the glass to the top position.
2. While pressing and holding the reset switch, lower the glass to the bottom position.
3. Release the reset switch, and check the reset switch returns to the original position, and then raise the glass to the top position.
CAUTION:
Do not operate the glass automatically to raise the glass to the top position. Work pushing the door switch at the top position on when working because the partial down mechanism has adhered.
FITTING INSPECTION
● Check that the glass is securely fit into the glass run groove.
● Lower the glass slightly [approx. 10 to 20 mm (0.39 to 0.79 in)] and check that the clearance to the sash is parallel. If the clearance between the glass and sash is not parallel, loosen the regulator mounting bolts, guide rail mounting bolts, and glass and guide rail mounting bolts to correct the glass position.

If for some reason it does not work the first time, disconnect the battery and try it again.

We have got it working! The motor had a stop position in the up mode and when you went the opposite way it did not have a stop position. We realized the stop position was the up position and we had installed it in the down position. So I had to put the window up, disengage the motor, put it to the stop position and engage it. It functioned perfectly.

Where can we find the Infiniti service manual on-line?

Appreciate your help.

Can anyone explain this part.

Here is what is going on with mine after installing a new motor:

Replaced the passenger window motor. Can't get the limits to reset properly. Opens slightly when I open the door. Won't go back up on its own when I close it. Auto Down works from the button. Auto Up no dice. Window slides down upon opening the door. Doesn't go back up upon closing.
