Hello,

I'm new to the forums and not a car expert by any means. I was hoping someone could enlighten me on why my brand new 2004 G35 Sedan makes a squealing noise when I apply the brakes. I have taken it in to have it serviced twice at the dealership and both times they have told me that the noise is normal! I was told by the dealership that the G35 has 'high performance' brake pads that will squel until they get warmed up.

I drive nearly an hour from work to home and vise versa going at high speeds with frequent stopping. When I get near my home my car still emits this squealing noise from the breaks when I apply them, after almost an hour of driving. It's really frustrating as it makes my car sound like a piece.

Has anyone else had this issue with an Infiniti G35 and if so what solutions are there? Btw I live in Austin, TX too.

Thanks in advance

Weird. Don't know anyone else with those problems. Austin dealer is, shall we say, not the most rigorous. Do you live north, maybe I could hear them at the end of your trip one day and get a better guess as to the source of the sound. Presume it has been always dealer serviced.

No, that's not normal. There have been common issues with alignment and tire wear, at least on the 2003s. If squealing were normal I think we'd hear of it more often. Did they replace the shims at least? Is it front or rear?

That would be great if you think you might could determine what it is. I do live north, off of Grand Ave and I-35 but commute from the Lakeway area up 620. And yes I agree the Austin dealership is a joke, I think there really needs to be another Infiniti dealership to instill some competition and perhaps then some customer service.

My car has always been dealer serviced, which perhaps is the problem :P

They didn't replace anything. Hell they wouldn't even acknowledge that the noise was a 'problem' they behaved as if it's something I should be proud of with my great 'high performance metalic brakes'. As for where the noise is coming from, it honestly sounds like its coming from both the front and the back, but I could be mistaken.
