So I don't typically use my AC as I prefer to drive with the windows down, but it's been hitting hundred degree weather here, and I found out my AC isn't working. So I went and picked up one of those R-134 refill kits. When I went to to test it, the pressure gauge was pointing above 65psi, where normal should be between 25-45psi. Any ideas on what the problem is and how I go about fixing it? By the way, the engine is a VG33.

I want to bump this thread because I am having a similar problem and my compressor is not kicking on. This truck is way too new and taken care of for this crap to be happening. Same year, engine, and truck btw.

The compressor will not cycle if it's overpressurized. Have you guys ever added freon?

I have not ever added anything. I bought the truck with cold air from the dealership, warranty just went out, now all of the sudden the ac compressor won't kick on.

From what I have been reading there is a pressure switch, too low or too high the compressor won't kick on? Is that correct?

Bumping with an update. I bought one of those r134 kits. My pressure was in the red on the low pressure side. I vented the excess pressure to where it should be. AC still not cold. I checked both banks of fuses...pulling every fuse and relay individually to check for bad ones. I swapped two of the relays around trying to see if it was in fact a relay. Nada.

I verified I had no leaks. I need to fix this before I sell the truck. I am not one of those douches that sells broken stuff. I read something about a sensor behind the glove box that goes bad and could cause a similar problem but the info was dated and kind of vague.

Can someone help me out with some first hand knowledge?

I swear my 240 is 11 years old and it never gives me this much trouble.

Have you tried looking through the FSM? They typically have a diagnostic procedure. I recently fixed the A/C on my GF's CRX. Turned out the pressure was low and there was a bad thermostat switch. Looking at the schematic, the electronics involved makes it a chore to diagnose. The Frontier is probably somewhat similar. It's not difficult work. You will probably need a multimeter and some wires you can use as jumpers.

Here's a lik to a FSM if you need:

All that was is a page full of pdf links with out descriptions. Can you tell me which one is climate control? I mean seriously. I just clicked through half of those and some don't work and the rest have nothing to do with my ac.
