When you turn the ig switch on(not start the engine)the oil pressure gauge pegs on high. Then when you start the en it remains on high not moving til the switch is turned off then it drops down to the low position. ??? All of the other gauges`work perfectly as well as the`other dash stuff.

Need some insight ???

Thanx Sorcisto

After i translated your finger-spasm, i have concluded that i have no idea what you are talking about with the limited details. Does the problem continue after the engine has warmed up? What are the actual readings on the gauge? Keep in mind that cold oil will produce alot more oil pressure than hot oil until it heats up.

I guess English is not your strong suit? Sorry I will be more specific.

When I turn the ignition switch "on" the oil pressure gauge records it's highest reading.(pegged all the way to the right) It remains there all the while the engine is running(when it is cold and after it has warmed up) The kneedle does not move the whole time the engine is running. When you shut it off(the engine) the kneedle drops down to low(all the way to the left, pegged). When I turn the ignition switch "on" but not start the engine the gauge behaves the same way(pegged on "high" all the way to the right).

There is no other obvious malfunction

First off.....Welcome to NICO.

Secondly, are you still under warranty or are you out of it?

Third, what would be done at the dealership is we would use Consult II and monitor the oil pressure input signal to the ECM and compare that to the output signal which is feeding your gauge. I believe that the OPU (oil pressure unit) operates on a 5v signal. With that being said, normal operating range should be between roughly .4v and 4.5v. Below .4v would be a fault low, above 4.5v would be a fault high. Those would cause the reading to be either pinned high or pinned low. BUT...I would imagine you would get an oil pressure light and a fault code that would be triggered if the ECM was reading voltage out of the factory specified range from the OPU. Since OBD-II monitors system degredation and would pick up that problem in a hurry. I'd imagine it would be a short to power somewhere between the ECM and the gauge or a fault with the gauge itself.

Anyway...unless you want to attempt to chase the problems or have access to a top notch scan tool or consult II, I recommend getting it scanned at the dealership as it would be quick easy and painless. And you'd probably pull out a lot less hair

Hopefully I helped a little.

Also....I moved this to the Nissan online mechanic forum so to get you a more technical approach to your problem.

Out of warranty. With older vehicles (those without a BCM) I would have assumed that the sender was bad(providing to much ground) This is diff I think. Does the BCM control the sender gauge relationship in the Armada?

If not I will just replace the sender. It looks like all of the others Ive seen over the last 30 years or so.

You said that you refered this to the Nissan Online Mechanics Forum. I thank you for that, However, I am unable to figure out how to get over there to read their responses. Is there a web address or something?

Hi, I am having the exact same problem with my 2004 Armada! Have you found out what is causing that to happen? Mine has been doing that for several months now. No other gauges are having problems and it has not triggered any warning in the system. If you find out, I would love to know.
Thanks
