is the 2004 qx56 a 4wd?

There are both 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive versions for the 04' QX56. The 4 wheel drive version is obvious by seeing 2 differentials underneath the truck, one in the front and one in the rear or if you can see the interior, there is a knob near the key ignition switch where you dial in what drive you want. The 2 wheel drive version does not have that knob.

I need to be sure its 4wd , I have a fx35 and its awd, I will be using it to pull snowmobiles, we get in some hairy situations in the mountains during winter, thanks about the nob, I see that it has a auto mode ??

Auto mode will automatically kick in the 4x4 if the vehicle detects slippage........it works quite well. If you are in clear cut slippery roads, leave it in 4 high.
