I have a 2004 Altima and when I reverse out of my drive way and put in into drive it takes some time before it goes into drive and sometimes when it finally shifts it jerks into gear...help!!! I just bought the car and I am really hoping it is not the tranny

I have had this same issue. i asked a family friend who is a mechanic and he says it is not anything to worry much about. what happens is the transmission fluid needs time to warm up before it can shift efficiently. if it bothers you to badly try placing a heater on the underside of the pan you can get one for about $20 on amazon then just plug it in when you park at home and voila problem solved. hope this helps.
