I heard the car shift roughly two times in 1 day. The SES light came on. I drove it to the mechanic the next day but it did not shift roughly. There was a P1121 code. Mechanic cleaned the throttle body, light went away for a day and came back. The DTC says actuator, do I really need to replace the whole throttle body? How long can I drive on it?Is it something I can do myself?Does anyone know how much a fix like this would run me?

I work about 25 miles away from my house and I wonder if the car will leave me stranded somewhere. Please let me know if you have any advice for me. Thanks!

p1121 means the that the throttle positioning sensor doesnt match the mass air flow sensor, so your car is getting confused as to how much air is actually going into the car versus how much it thinks is going into the car, so it has no idea how much fuel to add,

as for cleaning the throttle body, it would have to have been pretty nasty to restrict the air flow that bad,

first check your air filter make sure its clean,

second you may need to have your TPS sensor checked/replaced to make sure its acting right, also make sure that the wire that runs through the center of the MAF is not damaged, and thats about all i got on that, good luck

I read your forum. What did you ever figure out about your Nissan problem. I am having the same problem with my 04 Nissan. I have replaced several sensors and had to two different mechanics with two different answers. I would appreciate any help that you could give.

Ya that is a shot in the dark, guess and check kinda problem. It could be the TPS, MAF, Throttle body, ECU, throttle linkage, etc. Its not gonna be an easy fix, unless you get luncky on a replacement of something

To be honest with all of you,

I have to save up the funds to send it to the dealership and get anything replaced, so the last two weeks, I have been driving with it just the way it is...Luckily, it's been doing pretty good. I'm not going to take it in unless I really have to and have the funds to start replacing things. I really don't trust mechanics too much but if my car leaves me stranded, then I'll end up taking it straight to the dealership and crossing my fingerz that they get it right.

Let me know if anyone has any other advice.

Thanks.

I run into this problem all the time. Need to replace the throttle body and have an idle-air volume learn performed. There is also a TSB regarding a harsh shift problem caused by a loose ground on the transmission line pressure solenoid. If this was the issue, you would have a code P0725 (line pressure solenoid) Hope this helps.
