Hi Guys,

I've got a 2004 Nissan 350z Its been great to me for the last 2 years now and I just hit 40,000 miles on it. But just hit a snag. The clutch has started to slip... :( Is that normal for the clutch to go at 40k miles? That seems rather low for any car's clutch to start to slip. But anyways it has started to slip any clutch's that you guys suggest or fit well with the 350?

Any help is greatful!

Thanks

Drew

I've seen a couple of clutches go in 20k thanks to some abuse like riding it, using it as a brake on hills and just all out clutch dumps with the tach wound up to 5 or 6 grand. Then there's my all highway work commute that keeps me in 5th or 6th most of the time...I've got 103k on the original clutch and I think Soup got his close to that too. He's replacing his soon and mine will be retired this summer.

From what I've read from various members over the years 40k-60k seems to be the norm.

I think Soup is going with a clutch from Jim Wolf Technology, that's my plan too. I saw this package deal over at Concept Z and think I'm going that route and will add these bits while I'm in there. You're doing the right thing by checking into everything early on though so you can ask some questions and shop around rather than having to just settle on something if your clutch goes unexpectedly.

I love when new members stop in, I just wish it wasn't because of problems. :( In any case...

Welcome to NICO! :badger

Well I'm not really new, but had to get a new name as I don't remember the password to my old account. Its a daily driver and don't do alot of highway driving so, 5-6th don't get much use unless theres a road or two that have 45+ speed limit. I've been doing my research and it looks like its if you replace your clutch you should replace your fly wheel is that correct? Also I don't think I will need a clutch like what is in that package as there are no mods on my car what so ever. So any suggestions of makes to look at such as clutches to look at and what to stay away from?

Thanks!

Yeah mine started to lose its crispiness at about 95k, i drive like a grandma and there are like zero inclines in Florida.

You don't "have" to replace the flywheel, but since that comes out during the process of replacing the clutch people usually do it anyway, in some cases upgrading to a lighter flywheel. (I bought a clutch and flywheel combo, good deal)

Tell me your old account I'll reset the password and bring it back to life..

Here are a few...

OEM Clutch @ Courtesty Parts
(you'll have to call them for the price but they tend to be lower than most dealerships for OEM parts - YMMV)

Z1 Mild Performance Clutch

Clutch Masters Stage 1 @ Phase Two

Spec Stage 1 @ Enujuku Racing

And Intense has a whole page of them

Ok found this while searching.

Is this worth buying? Thoughts? For the price it looks good, but I don't want to put a piece of $h!t in the car.

Any thoughts?
