I checked the error codes since the check engine light was on. It read P0021. I cleared the code and took apart both Camshaft sensors to take a look and some measurements...
The sensors each have 3 prongs when unplugged. Do I test the resistance between any the 2 prongs of the sensor? or between 1 prong and the corresponding plug? Many thanks for any clarification.
I did a measurement test and could only get a reading between 2 prongs of the 3 prongs on either sensor. Both readings are 1240 ohms. Currently temperature outside is 41 degrees F.
Side notes... I recently purchased this 2004 pathfinder. Since I cleared the code I did an oil change (oil was low due to a oil cooler pump leak but I replaced both seals and the leak is now fixed). I also noticed the one of the sensors (passenger side which I believe is Bank 1) possible has a small oil leak. I've tightened the bolt holding in this sensor by one full turn, but still a small leak. Cant distinguish if the leak might be from the gasket of the top of the cam cover. Any experiences with this?
If I am needing to replace the sensors, does any one have recommendations on reliable sites? The dealerships in BC, Canada charge $144 + tax for each sensor. I've seen them online from $15 to $90 USD. Thanks again.
