Just picked up the car Friday and the navigation was working great only used it a couple times. Used it yesterday and it worked fine. Woke up today opened the cubby door and the screen wouldn't turn on and the dvd player is doing 2 long beeps. the lights light up for the controls and the dvd player has power but the screen is black. Anyone encounter this problem before and if so what is the fix for it. Thanks in advance.

Certainly sounds like something is wrong with the display and not the DVD drive, that posts an on-screen error message as far as I'm aware. I know a couple of people that tried to cheap out and burn their own (pirated) copy of an updated maps disc and had nothing but problems.

There's a pretty extensive section on the navigation unit in the FSM, I'll see if I can find anything. You can download the FSM here.

I'm using the original Nissan navigation DVD from 2003, and AFAIK in the FSM, 2 long beeps with no picture = navigation control unit (DVD drive).

If you know of anything else, or if anyone else has gotten the 2 long beeps, any additional information would be appreciated.

So, thanks to another bump you're now not going crazy! :)

I was going to suggest checking fuses, after that it's either a connectivity issue (which it sounds like it was) or it's a bad/dead screen (which it obviously isn't) - the troubleshooting procedures in the FSM are pretty limited for the dvd nav.

Has it stayed on since the pothole encounter?
