2003 Sentra with 2006 engine

Ok, so here is the deal. I have a friend that is asking advice and I have a feeling they have made a big mistake. They recently destroyed the motor in there 2003 sentra and have bought a motor out of a 2006 and after installing it the car will not run.

I have a feeling there is a difference between the wiring, and or the motor itself. What are the differences between these two year models in the 1.8 l motors? Any help would be greatly appreciated in this.

The motor has spark, the motor has fuel, the motor turns over but does not start. The motor was started at the yard they got it at.

P.S. Here are the VINS for both the car and then engine from the 2006

2003 VIN# 3N1 CBS 1D1 3L8 079 83

2006 VIN# 3N1 CB5 1D6 6L5 368 13

It is the same. The QG18 in the b15 chasis had the same hp/tq rating from 2000 to 2006. So it should be toatally plug and play.

I agree that it should be the same but it does not appear to be the same. I have already found a difference in the harness between the O2 sensors. The real question is what else is different.

You may need to have the ECU reprogrammed.

im not sure about the qg18 but in the qr from 02-03 and 04-06 the maf was different.

Until 2003, Nissan used 4 O2 sensors, from 2004-2006, they used 2 (just on the QG). The computers are different to compensate for this.
