What can this be? The check engine light does not even show up.

Like the ignition completely stops? No power steering, no lights, or just stops accelerating?

We'd need to know a lot more on this one... definitely weird.

Yea definitely weird. Just shuts off completely. Im asking for my uncle. I had the same problem a long time ago with a Ford Explorer but I ended up selling it and never found out what that problem was. Youre driving and it shuts off. If you let it cool down for 10 minutes its good to go again. But will stop again.

It's tough to diagnose without a code because it could be anything. Are you sure that there are no pending codes or something?
Also, does it start right back up?

The only thing that comes to mind is a fuel and/or air complete shut off but even while that is happening, the car 'might' act weird or stutter before shutting off.

No pending codes. It needs to cool down a bit before it can start again. 5-10 minutes later it will shut off again.

It seems as if the engine is trying to 'save' itself from over heating or something, which is new to me.

Have you done anything to the alternator?
Are the fans kicking on?

Also, I am wondering if it's your knock sensor going bad.
Have you changed your old plastic knock and cam sensors to the new metal ones?
