The members on this board are great and have really been helpful. I have a nagging question regarding my wife's 2003 G35 Sedan (40,000 mi). Ever since the car was a year old, under normal and easy acceleration, the transmission "thumps" into overdrive right at 39 - 41 mph. I've brought it to the dealer two or three times and was told not to worry about it. Seeing that this transmission shifts electronically, is this anything that can be fixed with a new module, as it seems to be getting worse of late? Has anyone else had this issue? How'd you fix it? The car is out of warranty for age, not miles, but I have all the slips for when it went in with this complaint. My humble thanks for any help or suggestions offered

You're not driving hard enough, if you and your girlfriend have different driving styles, this may effect the shifting points in the ECU, I would tell her to drive it harder, because driving the engine below 1200 rpms can cause excessive wear and tear....

I don't know how that relates to you, but I know when my girlfriend would take my ol banger for the day, it would feel like another car for a while until a re-trained the ecu. Her pedal foot may be shy, beleive me, I laughed my *** off when my girlfriend told me she smoked car on the hwy, I was like You were WHAT!?!?!?!

It's probably shifting into 3rd, at low speeds would be my guess. Also, change your dif fluid... this may help for sure.

Good luck man!
