I know this is an old topic but I need a little advice. It's time for brakes (pads and rotors) plus tires (no more Bridgestones!). Can someone give me some tire brands / models that'll last and still give me decent performance. Also, any thoughts on rotor / pads replacements that will provide good performance without the OEM clouds of brake dust? Thanks!

Normally redesigning systems causes unknown down sides [less dust less intial cold weather pad friction] thus increasing street stopping distances.

Same with tire compound softness..........you need to be more specific how much performance are you willing too lose and how much added noise will you tolerate?

Does 10 feet longer braking distances at 32F matter to you or your insurance company?

On the tires, I'd like similar to better performance than the Bridgestones. The Bridgestones weren't exceptional performers and they only lasted about 10K miles. For 10k wear, I'd like much better performance. On the brakes, same issue: decent OEM performance but the pads only last a short time and kick off tremendous dust. I'm in CA so cold weather performance isn't an issue.

As far as brakes, i hear hawk pads aren't bad. Check out tirerack for some different choices:

I had to get new rotors on my 2003 g35. I just went with stock replacement rotors. As for the pads I got Akebono which were recommended. I was told that the Hawk pads are kind of harsh on the rotors. I've had them on about 4 months now and everything is fine so far. As for the tires, I just put on 4 new toyo proxes 4. They do handle pretty well and the ride isn't bad. I've got 235/40/18 all around. This way I can rotate the tires. If you have a staggered set you won't be able to rotate. If you don't want toyo I would recommend the falken fk452's. I had the 451's before and they were good. I just didn't get the 452's this time just because I'm in the military and I don't know where my next move is to. That's why I went with the all season proxes 4's.
