yes I looked at mine and it does have to come off. I have done it much but shoot I seem to be losing it on brain power.
The pry technique is hard because it takes getting the lip that barely sticks out to catch the flatheads. You don't want to wedge into the space between because you can mess up the flats. If you did this, RTV a tiny bit later.
Also when putting clip back on, tighten the little cap nuts first to get more room for clip. Get clip close to edge, and push over the channel and listen for a click. The clip should be even all the way around. A tap on CV axle with rubber mallet will confirm.
New brakes are great. Make sure to get big bolts tight, and bleed them. Don't need anything special, just 2 people.
Use new brake fluid (dot 3) and don't expose fluid to air for more than a few minutes. It takes on moisture evidently.
