2003 qx4 exhaust. I have 2 bad cats.

So, here's the deal. 2 of the 3 cats are bad. the local muffler shop wants 300per cat plus labor to replace. I say to hell with it i'd rather remove them and justput a pipe there. First, do any of you see a problemwith this, and secondly, i imagine this will f* up my o2 sensors and throw a check engine light. any way to avoid this? thanks guys

Id love to get rid of ym cats to and am also unaware of the effect on the engines running 02's

yeah, there are 4. my bad. Its ridiculous! 1 is too many. lol nope, no emissions or any kind of car checks in oklahoma

can you source any of the parts from and auto recycler (junk yard)? Also sounds like you might be able to haggle on the $300/cat price. I'm sure there is some markup, so see if that muffler shop will play ball. If not, source cats from another location and see if they will install them or take it to a shop that will.

Also, I thought all US cars had and 8year/80K mile emessions warranty. It should be in the owner's manual, near the front.

It is over 80k, so even if there was such a warranty, it wouldn't be applicable.

I found a company that sells some headers for the VQ, debating throwing them on and just building a catless exhaust.......

Id love (and Im sure you would to) some info on what removing ALL of the cats from the system would do to my cars running ability

The modern cats are no problem. If they have given up, there's a reason, like your engine is running rich for whatever reason.

I live in California, and I've seen the smog situation get better and better overthe last 30 year.

Lots of companies make headers for the 350z, megan racing was one of the cheaper, more reputable companies. I was thinking of picking up a set, and just building a catless exhaust. But Id need some knowledge about what my car would run like without cats

Would a header that was made for the 350z fit our cars? I dont know if they are the exact same through all the years of the vq35

I dont know if they fit or not, on ebay there headers are labelled 03+, but Im just assuming thats cause that when they came out

I'll have to make a thread in some other forums to find out if they will fit and clear and get under my qx4 to see what obstructions there are
