In short I have a '94 Q car is awesome from a to z period tighter than tight.A very good friend of mine has an 03 Q45 with 120km or about 75K miles impeccable shapehe's really hurting for $$$$$ needs to sell it. I can trade him mine and some $$$$$ for itthe question is it worth it? I know its a 4.5 litre but do not think its on par with the 94 motor?

its a very nice car indeed.... If i had a stock Q id probably trade him for an F50... The G50s are easier to mod and make fast, but the F50 is a little faster to begin with... If you dont plan on doing any major mods (outside of wheels/tires and other small stuff like that, things you can do on any car), then the F50 will be fine..

When I can afford it, i will probably use an F50 as a daily driver/cruiser... Until then, my G50 has to take all the beatings

The VK45 in the F50 is indeed inferior to the VH45.... A chipped VH45 will make roughly the same poewr as a VK45, but the difference is in the 5 speed auto, which makes a big difference.... However, the VK45 will still serve you well for a long time (dont see any reason it cant see 250k)...

how much cash exchange would you be looking at???? remember that G50s can be had very cheap!

I drove an 03 several times. I wanted to like it--so bad.

The interior is cool and "modern." The body is unique and I love it. Its very eye catching. But---its dead in the hands. Very disconnected in feeling. More a blue haired drive than an enthusiasts ride, IMO.

I was very disapointed. I got in my 93 each time after the test drives with over 200K and it felt great like a far better driver. There is something in the "feel" of a G50 that is hard to describe. It fits me perfectly--perhaps I'm weird but I would not take a new Q over a well sorted out G50.

Just my opinion.

Peter

"never never" plan???my friend says I can pay that off monthly over a years period. He never really should have bought it in the first place as he hit a home run a work a big commission 24K and went out and spent it all on this carnow he cannot afford it, but is addicted to ride now I.ve driven it a few times and yes I can't feel the road like I can in my '94But for the price and the trade I just might take it

I do not see how you can pass that up, the interior and refinement of the 03' compared to a G50 is no contest....the interior alone would make this slam dunk. I'd have that in my garage already if I were you at 10k plus your car and a few grand somwhere down the road.

I had a 2002 luxury sedan comparison that Lou sent me years ago. Because SURPASS HOSTING lost all of my data, I'll have to dig through some archives to find it.

Basically, they ranked the Cadillac Deville and F50 Q45 closely. The Deville is quick and pretty but -not- a sporty car.

I have read of a couple of guys who went form a G50 into a new F50 and were non-plussed.

Ever think what $15K worth of maintenance and modifications can do for your G50?

Condition and rust would be the major determining issues for me.

Come on, drop 15k into a 15 year old car or take an 03' I do the 03'. I personally stilll do not love the syling, if I was in the market right now I get someones 06' M45 sport that they had to give back on an early lease, but the interior, the new motor/parts and WARRANTY, dude, do not be fooled, go for it. this is a sweet deal.

Just haven't found anything that moves me to give up the G50 yet. Especially when one looks under the skin. No new car is worth absorbing $50K or more depreciation over the next 6 years, for me anyway. No used cars either for absorbing $20K over the next 6 years.

But if I were on the market and couldn't find a primo G50 or a FY33, I'd consider a Y34 or F50, probably before a Y50 at this point in time.

I am interested to see how the new G35S with the VQ35HR does down the road. Might have to drive one.

I agree, I wouldn't drop 50-60k into a new ride but for 15k to get 10 years of new car, I agree too good to pass up, your pals bad luck is your good luck!
