reeLike the title says, I have an 03 Q and when I first got the car the navi was working, but it went in and out. Now its just off and the screen is on, but is black. Nothing else works either, no radio or anything. What could this be???

Thanks

Hopefully you purchased the Nissan 7 year extended warranty, as the normal warranty is only 4 years from date of first retail sale on non powertrain items.

Dealer will diagnose.

I bought the car used and at a very good price, so no warranty. Is there a way to reset the system at all??

The dealer said, over the phone, that it could be a few things. So on my next day off i'm going to get a diagnostic done. I hope it's nothing major. If it's the system itself, they said it's like $6750 Unless I can get a used one, but I hope not!!!! I did some thread searching and didn't see this type of problem. Is it a common or a problem that you guy's/gal's heard of before?

this doesnt help in any way shape or form. pls keep these type of comments to yourself. if there was warranty available he wouldnt have posted IMO.

You would be surprised at the number of new/used vehicles owners who do not know the exact precise terms of their vehicle warranty. It cost little to pay dealers for diagnosis then evaluate your repair options before authorizing the work.

You never know if Nissan has recalls or secret warranties on problematic items.

I always suggest the Nissan extended warranty with modern electronics so integrated and so expensive to replace.

I presume that is because owners who live in "Queenz" purchased the Nissan extended warranty right after the car passed the pre-purchase inspection by the Senior Infiniti technician knowing that all those electronic doo-dads are so expensive to repair?

If only all F50 second owners and later could be so blessed!

Why we also recommend any used car buyer have $3,000 in ready cash to repair the things missed in even an expert prebuy inspection. Techs are not perfect and cannot test everything nor predict random or pattern failures in an hour or two of paid inspection.

Seeing more and more NAV integrated display failures just after warranty.Timing probably depends on local temperature conditions and variations [circuit board stresses from flexing]. Seems to be one of those first 2 years of design problems that gets fixed on 3rd year of model updates.

We all went thru these types of expenses on the NEW 1990Q which was nearly bullet proof by 1993 and the 1994 redesign.

What one gets for the cache of owning new models in the first few years before the bugs are fully worked out.

I figured out what the problem was. After calling Infiniti of Lisle and Orland Park Infiniti, and both telling me that according to the service records using my v.i.n, that the AV Navi was burnt out from the internals and it would cost $6750 for a new one. I decided to remove it and check out the inside of the unit. After I disassembled it, I found that it didn't smell or appear to be burnt out. I put it back together and plug it, but it still didn't work. I then unplugged it and pushed on the connector for the harness and heard a little click. I also blew out the harness itself with a can of air, plugged it back and bam everthing works beautifully.

JJones1222, I'm having the same problem. Can you tell me where the unit is located ? is it in the trunk by the gas tank? My nav and radio would only work during hot and dry days, now nothing. the dealer did quote me 4k + to replace it. I would appreciate it if you can let me share the info.Thanks.
