Welcome aboard.
How long have you had the car, how many miles on it and how is the maintenance on it?
- What pressure do you run your tires at?
- I'd recommend checking your brakes especially on the maintenance side - if sticky those will literally drag your fuel economy down
- check for the flimsy plastic panels like under the engine bay and the fender liners. If they're missing or gaping, you're probably driving a parachute down the road.
Kinda, sorta important. Try to do a manual calculation on your mpg. Go to the same gas station, use the lowest pumping speed and fill it up. Calculate the mileage on the counter/gas filled and repeat a couple of times. This method is not the most accurate in all honesty, but I have found older Nissan mpg readouts to be grossly generous.
At least post them up for us to compare.
For the sake of it, just clear the mpg readout to reset it. You can go as far as disconnecting the battery overnight to reset the ECU.
18 mpg on the highway isn't really unheard of on the low side, but 11 city seems terrible for a Q.
EDIT: Also, if you've got some time to burn, familiarize yourself with the SEARCH function. Search for the relevant words - fuel economy, gas mileage etc..., and specify the Q45 forum and then keywords such as 2002 and 2003 (most plentiful years). There are a lot of threads with anecdotal mileage reports as well as some ideas on what to do.
What I've found is that 2002 was the fuel efficient one, 2003 went back to sporty.
