So my transmission was acting sluggish so I want to the Nissan dealer. They suggested to perform a transmission flush, the fluid isn't dark or burnt smelling. Soooo I got it done, the truck has 97k miles on it and it shifting smoothly. However there is a slight jump into second gear. Not sure if I should just consider this a sign the transmission is finished or there may be something that can be done.

N e thoughts??

If you mean a firm shift into 2nd gear, it's completely normal.

Lubegard Red may help smooth it out if you feel it is an undesirable trait.

I'm sorry but what is Lube Guard?

Having just done a driveway flush.. I can tell you that just because the fluid on the dipstick looks okay, the stuff that pumps out is nasty nasty nasty..

I hope I never have to smell the actual 2 gallons of hot fluid when the dipstick smells burnt and looks brown.

I noticed that it "hits" second better after just a few minutes of driving already.

Lubegard Red is a transmission additive that is well lauded by many transmission shops as well as backed by several manufacturers for certain transmissions. It can help mitigate slower shifts and lower overall transmission fluid temperature. I use it in my Pathfinder's transmission and in my experience it has smoothed certain shifts, especially in and out of downshifts. NAPA and Amazon sells Lubegard Red. I would suggest trying this additive - it is the only additive I would recommend for a transmission.

Before doing so however, I would ensure the transmission fluid level and condition are within range:

1. Drive around for 10 minutes in the city after the transmission is at operating temperature.
2. Park on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
3. With P selected, shift through every gear and return to P.
4. Pull the transmission dipstick with the engine idling, wipe it clean, reinsert it completely, and read the level. It must be within the notched area labeled "HOT". Check for fluid contamination after wiping on a paper towel.

The fluid should be red, and not smell burnt.

Thanks for the info, do just pour in the fluid even f the fluid in the transmission is within range? Would that overflow it?

If the fluid is at the very top of the HOT range, it would likely overfill the transmission. If it's in the middle or below of the crosshatched area, a 10oz. bottle will fit fine.
