I've been battling a rattle in the rear suspension of the pathfinder and not even sure where to start. To give some background, I purchased the car from my sister as she was upgrading to something else. Prior to just getting the car, she had someone change out the upper and lower trailing arms on the truck, and since picking it up I've put on new rear sway bar links, and new shocks/struts all around.

I will say that I noticed some shoddy work in some areas but nothing that patience can't fix. So now the noise I hear is coming from underneath the drivers side rear seat (I had someone drive me around while I listened), and that's where I pin pointed it to. Now when I get under the truck, the gas tank protector is there and I haven't felt quite bold enough to remove it but its next on my list. I'm also getting a creaking from the rear suspension coming out the driveway...anyone have experience with weird noises come out the back of these things?

Once these are addressed, the only thing left will be the cosmetic rust in the fender wells I need to square away.

thanks all! :yesnod

These things are notorious for rattling heat shields, so it may not be your suspension that's rattling.
I've removed most of my exhaust heat shields with no issues. They can be removed safely and not replaced.
As for the squeaks, it's probably the new bushings from your trailing arms.
Do you know if they replaced the bolts, or did they re-use the old ones?
The old ones should not be re-used BTW. If they did that, then shame on them.

Sadly they did reuse the same bolts from what I can see. It is worthwhile to order new ones and swap them out? I'll likely do that anyways just to get it sorted. Secondly the rattling I hear is somehow or another connected to the chassis, its freaking baffling. I'm at least happy the front end is solid and the rear will get there once I tear it apart.

Thanks for the insight
