I have a 2003 Pathfinder. Are the keys for this vehicle chipped? I was going to have a second one but I wasn't sure if it would be worth it

I recently purchased an '03 Pathfinder. I found out that the keys are programmed when I used mine to open the door only to have the alarm sound. I was able to order a new key FOB off of Amazon, and easily programmed it with a YouTube video feed. I plan to buy another key, and from my limited research I found that they can either be programmed by a dealer or a good locksmith (locksmith is rumored to be cheaper). I hope this is helpful.

Yes they are chipped I just had one done for my 01 QX4 when I lost the key completely; mobile locksmith did it for $175 - although my AAA Plus Membership covered $100 of that so $75 out of pocket.

I'd imagine it would be cheaper because your able to drive to the locksmith where I was stuck in a parking lot. Also probably get a blank Nissan transponder key on Ebay or something unless you are okay with an ugly generic transponder key

Thanks for the help, I got a key cut through Gaurdian for 35 bucks and I have a buddy who is a Nissan service writer so he programmed it for 25 bucks. WIN!
