I have a 2003 Nissan Murano that I purchased from a family member. The person that owned it prior to me told me how the stereo system (cd player, tape, AM/FM) stopped working upon driving it one day. Upon crossing some rail road tracks one day, the Murano didn't clear the track as he thought it would and the stereo stopped working. He mentioned that he saw smoke coming from the bottom of the car as well.

The stereo controls still seem to operate just fine. Just nothing comes out of the speakers. Is this an amp that may have been damaged in some way? It has the Bose speakers and I thought I read somewhere that they re each powered independently. I'm prepared to take it to the Nissan dealership, but I wanted to be sure it wasn't something else first. BTW it doesn't look to be the fuses.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hello there, I just got a 04' with the Bose system and it sounds great.
There is an amp behind the rear seat, look between the spare tire/rear seat, check out the wiring, fuses.

Also, check out this link and look for a right answer

Good luck with the MO

Look inside the tape deck. See if you see any coins in the back. This is what was wrong with the MO I just purchased. I've found multiple other places where that was the issue.
