Welcome to NICO!
Some people have reported here that it is only a dealer part ... at least at the moment.
1. Tell the insurance company about the age of the car and see if they will budge.
2. Check out the after-market parts and see if they are good enough and have everything in it that an Infiniti part would. If not, then they do not have a case for "equivalent parts" and you should be able to force the issue.
3. If all else fails, then bite the bullet. I have, in the past, worked out a deal with the installer (part was my rear bumper). The insurance insisted on a "refurbished" bumper, I wanted new. So, after arguing (and not winning) with the insurance company, I told the installer to go ahead and get the new part anyway and I would pay for the difference.
Turned out to be a $60 or $65 difference (on the cost of the bumper) for a just-under $1000 total work (the total for paint, installation and labor was more expensive than the bumper!). Worth it to me.
