alright ive been to the fitment guides and searched a he** of alot of wheel sites. so, im gonna ask the experts at nico. will 20x8.5 wheel with a +40 offset fit under the arm pits or not? without rubbing of course.

i gotta itch for 255/35 in da front and 275/35 in rear

ps dont forget about the 1" drop all around.

gimmie all your opinions with different setup i.e. with/without springs, 255 or 245, 35 or 45.

Oh, boy!

Given that stock wheel on the 2003 M45 is 18 x 7.5 with a 35mm offset, I think you are asking for trouble with contact with a wider wheel and higher offset. It might work if the offset were nearer 35mm ... I think the 40mm is borderline for suspension contact (not 100% sure). Particularly if the car is lowered!

Also, keep in mind that the lowered 20" tire aspect ratios that will work (probably a 30 or 35 as you note), means that the section profile of the tire does not give you a lot of room to work with either. With the wide tires you are looking at, the tires are more "square" than 45 aspect ratio tires and do not curve inwards to avoid the fender or the suspension parts.

You may end up having to roll the fender, particularly if you use a lower offset to clear the suspension parts. Or, if you change the camber to make the tire tilt inwards and fit, you will probably go through tires quickly. And 20" tires, with the correct load index for the weight of the car, are not cheap!

So ... short of the looks issue with such a wide 20" wheel (and that is a personal issue of course!), why do this at all? You probably will not gain a lot in performance, or find the time/arena/place to use the gain, for that matter. But, this is just my opinion!
