Hope someone can benefit from my good luck. When I got my car a little while ago, I really hated the delay in accelerating and downshifting when I stepped on the gas. I also hated the was the cruise control would get sloppy and loose 3-5 MPH going uphill sometimes.

While recently changing oil, oil filter & trans fluid (I also installed an oil catch can) I took a look at the throttle cables to the cruise control & throttle body. Both had at least 3/8" of cable slack before hitting the accelerator pedal would tighten up the cables and accelerate the car. I loosened the cable adjusting nuts, tightened down the cables, removing the slack. After I finished everything, just to be thorough, I did the Throttle valve closed position learning, accelerator position learning and Idle air learning procedures from the manual on the car.

Got rid of most of the shift delay & cruise control issues & really made the car more fun to drive.

Nice writeup! I've noticed quite a bit of slack in mine as well. I think I'm going to do the same thing.
