Hi, I'm looking at getting a 2003 M45 and I have a few questions.

1) Do they have a lot of problems?

2) What should I keep an eye out for when looking at one?

3) What color is the best color besides black (yes this is all opinion but I want to know what you guys like).

4) Do they drive pretty good or what?

5) How come they're so cheap?

6) Anything I should know before I take the dive?

Thanks.

I don't own an M45, but let me see if I can answer:

1) Do they have a lot of problems?

Not many. Look out for some slight oil burning. Some have reported a gas gauge problem that the dealership can fix. They gas gauge will tell you it has gas when it doesn't. There is also a small issue with the trunk not opening all the way. It clicks back shut before you have a chance to open it.

2) What should I keep an eye out for when looking at one?

See above

3) What color is the best color besides black (yes this is all opinion but I want to know what you guys like).

From what I've seen most of the 03-04 M45s are black silver or white. There was also a green available and maybe a burgundy, but I've never seen a pic of one. If I buy one in the future it'll be silver or white.

4) Do they drive pretty good or what?

Uhhh, from what I've heard-yes.

5) How come they're so cheap?

They were a unique body style that didn't sell too well originally. The introduction of the new M45 has brought the prices down as well.

6) Anything I should know before I take the dive?

Hold on.

Good Luck-hope my answers made sense and it doesn't seem like I'm talking out my butt.

Thanks.

Was there a silver and a grey? I guess I always thought it was a difference in the lighting or camera.

Black is the best color, but my second choice would have been white.

No real issues with mine (28,500 miles and going strong)

The car rides like a dream even with it lowered and the 20's

My 2003 M45 is "Brilliant Silver" (most of my purchases have been silver for quite a while), but I also really liked the deep red color one - it was called "Garnet Fire". My problem was that I could not find one without all the options, so the color choice was not under my control.

I also like the black one (see some of the pictures here!), but dark colors tend to require more frequent cleaning ... dirt shows up very easily!

BTW, the available colors for all the models are listed in the Basic Specs sticky at the top of this forum.

Thanks for the replies guys, they have helped me out a lot.

I love the black but I already have a black car and it is a PITA to keep clean and non-swirled so I think I want a silver colored car next.

One last question: How long do the factory warranties last and what do they cover? Are they bumper to bumper?

Also, I found two M45's locally that look really nice:

One in Silver

and this one in Graphite

I think I like the Graphite color more but the Silver one is better optioned (it has a/c seats) and appears to be in better condition.

What do you guys think?

With the 03 M45 you will want to find a car with the options you want that is in great shape then worry about the color. I think that the black is the best choice but as stated it is a PITA to keep clean. Both my 3.5se Altima and my M are Black and untill Feb I dont have a garage so it does take a lot of dedication to keep them clean.

Silver has to be the best color as far as cleaning goes! Looks clean almost all the time and looks even better when it is clean.

The Graphite is 3rd on my list for the same reason as Silver.

ahhh the silver M is fresh and the mileage is on point. As for the factory warranty; its typically 4yrs or 60K, so it may be out of warranty unless the dealer will back it with a 100k warranty, but be prepared to pay $1200 extra. I remember taking mine in for a squeaky driver seat and moisture behind my fog light cover and they covered everything.

Oh! with the car being so close to having 30k miles, see if you can talk them into completing the 30K service or at least have them change the oil if it hasn't been done so already. The 30K service will cost you $450-$550 ouch!!

Okay, one last quesiton: Do they have navigation or is that a rare option because I see all of them with the screen in the middle but I don't see a navigation menu.
