Hello. Unfortunately I am looking to part with my 2003 M45. Private sale, dealer and Blue Book have it listed anywhere from $4,500-5k. Personally I thought it would be more valuable, particularly to a collector or the like. Any ideas if there is such a market for this vehicle? It has ~76k miles and has been absolutely babied. Silver, black interior and I did add window tint. Otherwise it is completely original and unmodified. Any insight will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, BmR.

Look around eBay and Craiglist in your area to see what they go for...if none found, you can probably list it a little higher.

I agree with Ilya. Those model years are classics to Infiniti fans and if you have good documentation of maintenance, and the car has no dents with a proper finish and shine, you should list a little higher than the book value for 'excellent' condition. If nothing else, it will give some wiggle room negotiate with prospective buyers. I would post an advert with at least 2 pics (side and rear) with a description that specifies 'iconic body style', sought after body style, etc.

Man, I sure hope I'm wrong about this one, but I don't think the y34 has a cult following quite yet.

I agree that online book values are brutal to this model, but even with the mileage, someone's gotta really love the car to pay much over bluebook/NADA. Consider that a 2006 m45 with about 130k miles can be found for around $6k and now you're slipping into fighting for customers with the newer, more athletic brother of your car albeit with more miles. I have an 03 as well, and seeing how long other fairly priced ones around me sit on the market, I don't even plan to sell mine.

However some factors could work to your advantage: low mileage, maintenance records as mentioned, overhaul & spruce up records, number of previous owners, location, specific features etc...

For some reason people on craigslist seem to expect to buy stuff for next to nothing. Yours is no run of the mill car, and neither is it a typical m45. I'd think about listing it on ebay/autotrader/cargurus for your ideal price (considering their fee of course). You get more attention that way. I think historically they've sold pretty fairly on ebay, which is what I'm familiar with.

Unfortunately that's the going price. Bummer how cars depreciate. In 2004 I bought a new Lexus GX470 for $61K. Four years later In '08 when I needed to sell it in the divorce, I could only get $24K. I don't think I'll ever buy a new car again.

Unless you really need the money, it's cheaper to keep her.

This. Unless work is subsidizing it, I'll only buy lease trade-ins around the $30k mark. Got both my M's with an average of 35kmi for between 24-28k.

You didn't mention why you want to sell and I don't want to pry, but Ilya makes a great point. Once you buy a brand new car and suffer the depreciation and the possible upside down financial stress if it is totaled with a balance due the bank, you will loose that 'new car' fever.
Due to the lack of huge sales figures and the relatively unknown prowess of these cars and their reliability, buying a used model is the best way to go. Resale values equal quite a savings and if you buy off-lease, you can be relatively certain of no major mishaps. You can even add an extended warranty at Infiniti or CarMax and still get a great value. I have bought two M's from CarMax with their Max Care warranty. My current M is a 2009 but I have near new-car coverage (parts + labor) with a $50 deductible at the Infiniti dealer for up to 125,000 additional miles or 5 years time from date of purchase for an extra $2300. It doesn't take much on these cars to gain that $2300 back should a major component or part go bad.

Where are you located as location does affect pricing, ownership time, maintenance records all help when selling a. Also I can't tell you how many times I have seen someone selling a car with just one really bad picture. You have to tell a story and taking really good pictures showcasing how good your car looks is paramount!

Since the OP joined on Monday and pretty much hasn't been active since, I hate to pile on him/her.

I hope my post is not too far off topic and is relevant to the whole "how much should I sell for" question.
I am no economist, but I know that supply & demand drive the market on anything. I also know that value & worth can be tricky concepts.

Case in point:
This 2008 M45 sport on ebay. The price has dropped quite a lot since I first saw it, and he's now asking for $27,500. It has under 4,300 original miles. So, KBB prices an excellent private sale at approx $17k. $18k from a dealer. The MSRP was over $50k.

From a buyer's point of view, heck that's a decent deal however you cut it. His asking price is the MSRP of a Maxima or loaded Altima. The bluebook value is in the ballpark of a Sentra.
It's got more tech and is more engaging to drive than most new models for the price today, with comparable mileage. Granted it's still a 10-year old car & the body style is by no stretch as unique as the y34.
Just needs to find someone who really loves what it's offering beyond what even a new q50 can do for you.
From a seller's point of view, I would rather keep the car than eat that much depreciation.
