Hey guys! Last night, had an issue with my Y34. Seemed to be in limp mode (wouldn't go past 3k RPM, limiter bounces) but no warning lights.
Has 132k miles on the motor. All fluids are good. I let it sit for a few hours after normal daily driving, went to go fire it up, was cranking perfectly but wouldn't fire the first 2 tries. Once it fired, I was driving for about 15 minutes, and as I was climbing a hill, possible limp mode began. Got home 15 minutes later, turned it off for 20 minutes, tried again and it was out of limp mode. It did this at 3k no matter if it's gear 1-5, Drive, Park or Neutral. Will try again later in the morning to see if it persists or was some strange incident. If anyone needs a video of what happened, I can email it you.
Possibly crank/cam sensors? Had somebody say bad fuel pump/filter, but I'm not entirely sure.

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks a bunch!

I'd start with the simple stuff...fuel or air. But the fact that you have no codes is odd. Was the CEL blinking once it went into limp mode and then stopped once you got home?

Happened to my M45 as well, check your brake lights see if they are on. If they are on you probably broke the brake switch rubber stop. car will not shift or rev with the brakes on.

It ended up being P0340, camshaft sensor!

Bro check the crank position sensor, my Y34 with 291k did this a month or so ago I switch that sensor and use some electrical cleaner an grease on the plug to keep water and dirt out and I’ve been good ever since

UPDATE:
Found problem. supposedly an easy fix code "pending" P0340 with no check engine light (ran codes at O'Reilly"
Replaced the sensor with OEM part, but ran into new issue. Car would not start! So, I swapped the old sensor back in and STILL, no start.
But the car gave me a hint at what the issue was:
Turn the key to on, one single click.
Fast forward, I'm looking in the manual for a TSB and it says "P0340 possible issues: starting circuit"
So after trying to start it with no success, I took a rubber mallet and smacked the starter lightly to see if it was my starter itself.
Eureka! Turned the key and it fired right up. I did this test with both the new and the old sensor, 3 times that day and sure enough, the sensor made no difference but smacking the starter did. So the sensor itself was not the problem (so far).
Crazy! Thanks for all the help everyone!

Wao! That's sensor at the driver side little bit below isn't it? Just at the hood? Glad that worked for you.
