2003 M45 Grille Color

Hey guys,

The grille on my 03 M is needing some work. Over the years it's peeled a bit , and the city driving has added some chips. For a new grille it runs around $299, I've seen a number of custom paint jobs done. And am interested in doing my own.

I'd like to stay close to the original, but it's some sort of black chrome. The M itself is a pearl silver, trim is black or charcoal and the grille like I said is some sort of black chrome. Does anyone have any knowledge of the colors that were used on these grilles? Or any suggestions for repainting? It doesn't seem possible to respray black chrome unless the object being painted is chrome already.

If I'm unable to recreate the original, I'm thinking of a straight black color, but would prefer to stay true to the stock.

Welcome to the forum.

If I was you, I'd honestly take black plastidip and then cover it in shiny clearcoat. That should get you a pretty nice looking grill.
