Sup guy's i have an 03 m45. Had an exhaust problem friday. Where the dual headers/cats come together in the center into a resonator broke. So instead of replacing how it was i had the bright idea to seperate them. Now im having problems with the motor bogging down under light acceleration. Then once i give harder throttle it opens up and is fine. I locked the exhaust flap wide open and tried thinking the one side of the motor was needing to breath. It the bogging down was even worse. Any ideas before i take out the new pipes and re install the single?

I searched everywhere and haven't found a solution. I see a few guys who changed their exhaust to true duals with no issues so I am so confused!!!!Image

Welcome to NICO! That is a head-scratcher. I would have expected more performance after reducing any exhaust resistance caused by the resonator. Perhaps removing the resonator requires an ECU and / or throttle reset? Perhaps others in here have done similar changes to their exhaust and provide some help.

I removed the resonator when I installed a cutout. Link: remote-exhaust-cutout-y34-t508684.html
I had no issues with it losing power.
I have, however, been through an issue similar to yours recently....Hope this is not it for you: bottom-knock-form-y34-engine-is-toast-t591141.html

if yours is not knocking so that you can hear it, it might be only a little bad right now...

No . Thank god its nothing like that. I think possibly when we tried to lock the exhaust flap open we probably actually flipped.it a complete 360 and it was still closed. Im gonna try it today

So you have two separate exhaust flows to the single muffler in the rear? Is the exhaust flap you refer to the butterfly valve? If the valve is closed it could cause this problem. I recently replaced the exhaust and removed everything from the cats back. It is similar system at the link, instead of the AR 25, my setup used Magnaflow resonators. I am more than thrilled with my install. Hope you can resolve your issue.
