2003 m45 convert glove box cd changer to indash??

Just picked up an 03 m45. Wondering if its a simple plug and go to install an indash CD changer and no longer use the Glovebox changer. Thanks for any advice.

Glovebox CD changer??? Are you sure you aren't referring to the Glovebox DVD NAV Drive?

2003 M's the CD changer is in the glove box and the cassette is in the lower dash. 2004 these are reversed. I also have a 2003 and have the same question: is it possible to buy the 2004 CD changer (boneyard or dealer) and if so, can you scrap the Cassette and just plug the CD changer in where the cassette used to be, using the existing harness (assume a new cover is also needed for the dash...)

In the process of doing the Boon MP3 player adaption to the Cassette player, I checked fitment as between the two units and they will fit into each others location. The problem is making the two harnesses reach the new locations. I did not investigate much if there is enough wire to reach, otherwise you can cut off the harnesses and add extensions to them and it will work out great it will just be a lot of wires you will be cutting and splicing. well, the CD changer is in the far left top of the glovebox... maybe 6 inches from the cassette... so you are saying that the CD Changer connector will not move that far over? Is it the SAME connector for both units? T

he CD in-dash (2004) is completly different than the 2003 glovebox unit (which uses a cartridge to insert the 6 CD's -- similar to the trunk units in a lot of german and british cars).
