When you purchase your car, you never got a key fob...
Careful observation here...the statement above does not add up.
Unless it was specifically ghetto modified, this car REQUIRES the chip in the key fob to start the car.
Exactly what do you put in the ignition to start it? A traditional key?
Next: I would not consider changing the factory alarm a viable option here.
Testing the other doors is the way to narrow the problem down as suggested.
Fixing the issue (once narrowed) is a matter of your patience, diligence and comes down to 3 options.
1. Your original damage estimate has to be updated (this is common) and your suggestion to the insurance adjuster should be for the body shop to outsource the solution to the dealership for a correct diagnosis & timely repair ...given the issues you've had with the body shop.
2. you troubleshoot this yourself, repair on your dime and good luck with that.
3. you live with it.
You have a rental for the duration, right?
