Hey Guys. Just picked this car up a couple of weeks ago. Already fixed the joystick issue with a new dash unit I bought on Ebay. A few nagging items remain though, I'm hoping you guys can help.

The TPMS warning comes on and stays on steady when the car is started. The screen defaults to a TPMS warning screen with 2 *s next to each tire. The sensors work, verified at Discount Tire. Will this reset over time or is there a bigger issue likely?

Is there a way to display the time on the screen, in this non-nav equipped model? It seems a little ludicrous that it would not, but I cant find a setting to allow it anywhere!

Last issue, I have a second key/fob that I purchased online. It needs to be programmed to this car though, as it is currently useless. Can I do this myself or is it another dealership thing?

I cant tell you how much I'd appreciate the help and I look forward to learning from you guys!

WELCOME my Y34 Brother!

If the TPMS units have not been found by this time, they need to be found using the Consult tool used by the dealer. No local tire stores have the tool that works on these Y34 models. That being said, the units may "work" but not have enough power to stay in contact with the car. I've had 2 of these Y34s (both '04 models) and both needed the sensors replaced due to weak batteries. (non-replaceable batteries, trust me, I tried)
Dealer might not charge you, depending on their mood and your relationship with them.

The fob also needs to be programmed, by the dealer, however, you'll want to be certain that it has the microchip inside the fob before making the commitment to get it programmed. Look up my posts for info on the microchip, where it is and how to be sure it does not get lost when changing the fob battery. Dealer will probably charge you a half hour labor but should also wash/vacuum it for you after.

Other stuff:
Read my 100K mile report on the Y34.
Check your oil every couple of days to be sure you're not consuming it. Change it at 3K (do it yourself and save big $).
Visit often.

I have a 2004 and agree with Double E about the TPMS. Two of mine are not working and I can't find anyone except the dealer who can get them to work. My tire pressures are right on. The dealer wants insane money so I have been holding off just because it makes me mad about the $$ they charge. I just may wait until all 4 go and see if I can't play "lets make a deal" with the dealer. My god, what did we ever do before this new crap came out to annoy us? LOL!

Thanks guys! I was afraid of that info, but not entirely surprised by it. Guess I'll need to make a trip to the dealer. Fortunately, its only got 78k on it right now, so hopefully it hasnt had a chance to be TOO dogged yet.
I'll stay on top of the oil and hopefully avoid much costlier problems.

Do not go to the dealer for the replacements. Get them on line from e-bay or some other retailer. Pay a shop up to $15 a tire to dismount, install & re-balance, then go to dealer to have the sensors programmed.

Yes, it requires you to hunt on line for the Dill sensors (315 MHZ REDI-Sensor Dill 7001), shop around for a tire place to install the sensors and then go to a dealer and unfortunately, you will not end up paying half of what the dealer charges, but it will be close and is still worth it. There's 2 on e-bay now for $20.

I got 4 for $90, (e-bay) then a shop (NTB) to do each tire for $12, then the dealer programmed them for free because of my relationship with them.
