Hello all,

I just purchased an 03 M45 over the weekend and satellite radio was not installed but there is a button on the stock radio for it. I went and bought the Infiniti receiver for it and an antennae. Through a quick search I found a post on xmfan.com (http://www.xmfan.com/viewtopic.php?t=32506 about installing it. Please see the link, is this correct? I took a look back there this evening and did not see any harness whatsoever.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks!

Randy

Welcome to NICO!

Something to be aware of: many of the early M45's did not have the wiring harness as standard in the car - if you did not get the satellite option in the original purchase! I think (but am not sure) that they started including the harness as standard later in the model year.

So, you may have to get the harness from an Infiniti dealer. Check with Joe Tsensky at http://www.everythinginfiniti.com (link is at above right corner ... please use it since it helps NICO!) Joe has the best prices possible on items like this - he can also help you with what to look for to confirm that the harness is not there.

WAIT A SECOND!!!

How are you in Cincy with the Z and I've never seen it? I'm up near KI, but have seen a few nice Z's out and about, just never that one.

Welcome to NICO, you'll enjoy the place, don't forget to drop (top) in the Z sub-forum as well.

Funny, I am up towards that way quite a bit too...I actually work in Mason. It might be that I don't drive it all the time, the M is actually my new DD now. Love them both! The Z has been converted into a twin turbo as well, visit http://www.ragtpz.com if you are interested in seeing more of it.

I work in Mason as well ... the "little" building at the corner of Tylersville and Western Row.

My guess is you won't have the puppy out for awhile. Post up any meets you might be having in the Regional Meets section.

Back to the topic of this thread... I have a 2003 M45 that was not pre-wired. I had to order the tuner kit (I got Sirius), antenna (I got the new small one with the yellow to yellow/green splitter) and the wire harness with N-BUS cable. I have the wiring diagrams for all of this if anyone needs it.

Here are a few notes for all of you out there looking to do this... It takes about 2-3 hours to install the cable harness correctly. You have to take apart part of your dash and center console. If you follow directions, it goes just fine. I originally ordered a Sirius receiver from a 2006 M45 because the dealer told me it will work with my car and it was less expensive then the model for the 2003. It turns out it is only compatible with the pre-wired 2003/4 M45's, not the ones that are not. (This seems a little weird to me, but we tried 2 of the newer units, but they had an issue that the screen would not come off 'ACQUIRING'. We tried a different antenna (since some have been found to be defective), then finally tried a 2003 unit and it worked fine.

There are links out there on the web about the vin number range on the 2003 cars that were pre-wired and the ones that are not. There is also a rumor that there is a black sticker on the inside of driver door if it is pre-wired. I can't confirm this because my car was not pre-wired.

Let me know if you have any questions.adboom

Welcome to NICO!

Thanks for the info and the knowledge transfer. I am pretty sure that my 2003 M45 does not have pre-wired harness either. I do have any sticker that I can see (where on the door is it likely to be?) to confirm things ...

It is on the inside of the door (where it connects to the car when closed). My car did not have one either. An easier way to check is to remove the dirverside trunk liner (simply pull it away, it will pop right off) and look for the harness. If you need help, I can guide you. It is nice to have the built in Sirius.

To Randy (ragtpz) ... please reduce the size of the image in your sig a bit. It is larger than our policy allows. See here for the details: zerothread/203223.

Thanks!

Not sure what you mean. My car is prewired. I will not need the harness. I am trying to locate the wire in the trunk that is already supposed to be there.

OopsI thought you meant where to buy the harness...

I dont know for sure where it is, but in my 06, the n-bus connector was located (when facing the trunk at the back of the car) on the right side, under the rear window deck, tied up really good with a zip-tie, hidden away... its likely your car is in the same place, but I have no experience with that year. we had to look very hard for this one as it was hidden away very well...

The installer who did mine also noted that some of the earlier cars had it in the dash and never extended the connector to the trunk, so in some cases they needed to remove the deck and run an extension.
