Help! When I turn the key on I hear the fuel pump for about 2 seconds. Cranks but does not start.Seems like a fuel issue. I squirt some starting fluid in the air box and it does run for a few seconds. My car has 66k out of warranty. Has ayone else had this problem? Or have any idea?

Are there any lights on the dash that come on or flash when you turn the key to crank? It could possibly be that your key lost the security programming and therefore wont start the engine. Or your fuel pump could be shot, or a number of other things.good luck

This may sound dumb but are you sure you have gas? It's a known problem for the gas gauge to read half a tank and be empty.

Yes, It does seem like it is ouf fuel. I have also had issues with the gas gauge and have run out a few times when the gauge says that I have a 1/4 left. I put 6 gallons in.Somebody must have had this problem!

Well if you've run out of gas before and possibly this time as well, you could have fried the pump. If you've put fuel in and it supposedly starts on starting fluid then that is a likely cause for this problem. And what is the point of using exclamation points when giving symptoms or telling us things. If you want help online where nobody has the opportunity to actually look at the car then you are going to have to give us every and all information that may pertain to the situation!!!
