2003 Infiniti I35 Loud Exhaust System

I just purchased a 2003 Infiniti I35. It has a very loud exhaust system sound, at the muffler, when I accelerate. It is more of a resonance sound then a loud leak sound. I have inspected the system and it is very tight and does not have any leaks or weak spots. Do the variable baffles in this muffler ever fail? Is the fix another Infiniti muffler of a different type or an aftermarket generic type?
