Stereo receiver will not turn on via on/off on unit itself or via steering wheel mode button. Am I to understand that I cannot have a 3rd party/after market stereo receiver installed in this puppy? I have the trunk 6 CD changer with Bose. My options would be = ? Thanks.

You can always install an aftermarket unit...sometimes you just need a new console unit.

Another option is to have it repaired. Check these guys out:

I've been told by more than one local car audio shop that they would have to replace all my speakers in order to install an aftermarket receiver. Is this true? Will this adapter allow me to install an aftermarket receiver without having to replace speakers? :http://www.crutchfield.com/S-eHmdEdlXe5 ... =142C4NN03

I think it should be fine with that adapter, but don't try and use an aftermarket amp. It probably has a max power rating of 50 watts RMS.
