Original owner with 23,000 miles--car seems to ride very rough and dosen't smooth out bumps. Just drove a 2006 G35 with 13K and ride is totally different--much smoother.

Could I have bad shocks with this few miles??

Welcome in to our club and congratulations to posting the first time to the correct forum.

Doubt it, but not impossible. Primary symptom would be lack of control on rebound, i.e. - float.

I series is a front engined FWD car with almost 60% of its weight over the front wheels, and a beam axle out back.

The V35 is front engine RWD car with totally independent suspension front and rear. The dynamics are different, and why Infiniti abandoned FWD platforms to move upmarket.

Maxnix-

I think you have described it perfectly..."lack of control on rebound". That’s exactly how it feels. The car is still under warranty so how might I go about having the my dealer honestly check the shocks and give me the straight story about replacing them if needed.

Also, would a stiffer shock provide more rebound control? if so, your recommendations as to brand and type would be appreciated.

Thanks,Kico

Take it to the dealer like Wes said. If you have to, take a ride with the service adviser and go over a few bumps so you can show him/her exactly what you are talking about.

Yes, a stiffer shock would provide more rebound control, but you would also sacrifice ride quality at the same time - bumps and potholes become much more harsh. Quality after market shocks are available from Tokico and KYB. But since you are under warranty, the dealer will just replace it with another OEM product.
