haha unfortunately there's not much we can do to cure this besides learn how to compensate for it....we're just blessed with the turning radius of a boat

All FWD Infinitis seem to suffer from this, my old G20 had a terrible turning radius too.

I'm not really sure why the G20's radius would be so large, because the SR20 is actually pretty small, but with the I35, the VQ35 engine is transversely mounted in a horizontal position, which makes it a lot wider than a typical vertically mounted V6. This is one of the main reasons why our cars have such a huge turning radius.

The overall width of the G20 is actually just a couple inches narrower than the 4th gen Max. A lot of G20 owners use a modified 4th gen FSTB for the P10, since there is little aftermarket support for them.

On the maxima's I know some people who have taken out the bump stops completely and helped with the turning radius. I wouldnt suggest it though. Its there for a good reason.

How is removing a bump stop going to really improve your turn radius? I see it as potentially giving excess body roll, but with good suspension you eliminate the roll and will never hit the bump stops anyways.

LOL. removing the bump stop will do absolutely nothing but cause suspension problems as Scott (maxhopper) will note. LOL. I meant the steering stops (Its kinda of like abolt.) You have to be careful when doing this that when turnign that you dont hit any suspension parts. When i lowered my car with coilovers i could not do this because it would hit when turned completely.

I dunno, I own a boat too (66 Chevy Caprice) and it has a much tighter turning radius than my I-30.

BTW: LA02MAX- love the stance of your car. Based on your sig pic, I ordered a set of H-Techs and Illuminas this week.

Wow, thanks for the comment! haha I also loved the stance when I was looking into lowering. I'm going for coilovers next but that will be a long time from now. The ride on the H-techs is excellent, and the handling is obviously pretty good, because I pretty much hung with a 390 whp (dynoed earlier that day) supra on coilovers in a road course. HAHA afterwards, he was like "uh uh, I can't be having a family sedan sneak up on me like that anymore!" He was really cool about it and complimented me.

About the bump stops, it's definitely not a good idea to remove them. Like other people have already mentioned, they're there for a reason, and that's to keep it from rubbing on the inside of the wheelwell and to resist damage to the axles, and suspension components

The only thing about this that bugs me is the fact that I had a 4th gen maxima, a 95 that I added 2002 17 inch wheels (like LAO2max's) to and it turned just fine and never hit the suspension. 4th gens and 5th gens are so much alike that I can't believe one would hit with 17s and one wouldn't.

Would anyone on here with a 5th gen max/I30/I35 want to test this by taking off your turning stops?

Another thing, I've owned 3 90-95 pathfinders, one of which was an SE equipped with 31 inch tall tires from the factory and it had turning bumpstops while the others did not. It had a horrible turning radius and i got to looking under it one day and noticed that it had a long way to go to hit anything on the suspension.

i would be very reluctant in taking those bump stops, or stoppers. i would not want to over strech my cv boots as well and making your rack over extend. saving a coule of inches on steering radius. my take bad idea. i have an 02 max se. the 18's w/ 225-50 does not help either. my f50 has a batter radius.
