So I am now on my 4th G series car.

I have had a G20, G35, G37 and now back to a 35.

I bought this one private party.

The upper glove box lid had a trim piece of black something on it that covers the lid. The left hand corner has pulled away from the lid, I would think that just some 2 sided tape would hold it, but does not seem to work. The guy I bought the car from told me that his mechanic friend... that was my first mistake... trusting him.. :( , well he said there was a piece that could be ordered to replace the trim piece. But talking to my local parts dept at Infiniti they are telling me, no it is a 1 piece unit which also includes the right side vent.... $465 and 1 hr to install at $100. OUCH!! All for a little piece of trim!!

Does anyone know of a way to fix it other than $565?

Thanks...

JC

Welcome to NICO!

Can you post a pic of the trim? You may just need some good 3M double-sided tape to fix it.

I have seen the same thing, even in 2004's. I would like to know the answer as well since I'm looking to buy an '04 G.

I called the dealer and they claim that the upper glove box is connected to the side vent and that there is not a piece that can be purchased to replace just that trim on the lid. They told me the upper glove box and the side vent are a 1 piece unit and it is about $525 to replace it.

In the end I used super glue to attach the trim to the glove box lid. Still not what I wanted, but it did the job, and is better than doing nothing.

Would search junkyards for a replacement as well.

http://car-part.com should find some leads.

From what I've seen it's the whole cover of the upper glove box. If it was me, I would use a hairdryer and try to bend it back. I actually did this with the bumper of my old 330i because the previous owner hit the curb when pulling in and the plastic was bent down an inch or two.
