So I have a 2003 G35 that has a 2006 transmission in it. The previous owner choose that one over there 2003 stating the 2006 was a stronger transmission and had shorter gears. My question is, would this be why the rev-limiter is kicking in early at 5,600 instead of at 6,500 as it shows on the dash? And if so, is there any way to make the tach report the engine speed properly? Or am I looking at another issue altogether? Other than the early rev-limiter, the car runs like a dream and pulls HARD! Thanks for your help.

Believe each transmission is mated/matched to the car it's in. If the transmission is changed, especially since a different year, the electronics probably need to be reflashed.

Ok, I'll look into it, because I still redline at 60mph in second which is what i've heard is correct.

The gears should be exactly the same, but it is true that the newer trannys have stronger parts. I don't know why you would be redlining so soon, it could be an ecu issue, try disconnecting the battery and doing a manual reset, if you want to get an uprev osiris tune PM me for a hookup, you can bump the rev limiter as well as recalibrate the A/F, timing, speed limiter, etc.

I'm local in portland, I'd be willing to meet up some time and take a look at it if you want...

Actually... I found 2 other people that had the exact problem within a 200rpm range of mine. They said the Crankshaft Position Sensor and/or Camshaft Position Sensor could be the culprit, any advice?
