Does anybody know if there is individual light bulbs or you have to change the whole shifter??? Infinity dealer is saying you cannot replace the bulbs that light up the P,R by the shifter.Does anybody know this to be true?????Has anybody taken apart console around shifter? Any pictures anyone?

Dunno. I'll see about getting into the column this weekend. LED's would be nice.

The 03 Auto has one LED that is wired to the combination switch. I cannot find anything in the ESM about replacing the LED I know the 05+ are replaceable but you may have to get the whole circle piece around the shifter. If you are still interested I can look on Monday and see if there is a bulb available. I think I might be able to dig one up for you. Well see what I have got.

Since "Infiniti" just replaced it it should be under the basic 12/12 parts warranty.

If you want to take a look you can pull the shifter panel up and take a look at whats going on in there to see if it is something simple like a loose bulb.

Ok. I will check it out. My extended warranty was what covered it.

Perfect then I would not even mess with it and take it back and make sure it's fixed. Good luck keep us posted on your results.

Okay, I opened up the console. I wired in a blue LED, and it works. You need a resistor for a 12v system, since the LED I used was only 3v. If you're interested, let me know and I'll get a pic of the resistor so you can match the color code.

The stock light is not an LED, it's a tiny bulb that has a little orange condom on it.

The blue LED that I wired in only lit up what was directly above it. So for it to look right, you would need 4 LED's, one under each position (P) (R) (N) (D).

I would replace all 4, but it would look silly to have blue lights on my shift column, and orange lighting throughout the rest of the car.
