This should probably be in the Murano Forum. I'll move it for you in just a second.

Well. I recently found out that 03-07 had a design flaw in the mounting brackets for the seats. I just recently bought an 06 and discovered after the purchase that the mount was broken on the back left and front right. To say the least it was a safety issue. Nissan does know about the issue and has sent a thing around for their mechanics but it's not an open or silent recall for some reason. As such they won't do squat for me. The dealership I bought it from needed a bit of yelling before they'd help me but it's all good now.

Aside from that seat, and I think the TPMS was an option for 06, nothing really has changed from 03-08. In 09 they did a styling change on the truck. Nothing spectacular mind you but enough to notice. Mechanically it's the same truck from 07-09 if not the 2010 model.

You could have saved some cash on the purchase, but, it's about 1500$ ish for a new seat all together and 777.48 for just the bracket that tends to break. You decide.

Hope it helped.

It's not a safety nor recall issue since it is not that much of a problem. While it HAS happened to some (and one or possibly more TSB's for the seat mounting exist), apparently there have been no accidents or injuries reported related to broken seat brackets. Let's face it, if yours was broken but you didn't discover it until after your purchase, how big of a problem is it?

Minor point, but Muranos (like all other CUV's) are NOT trucks. Mos are merely modified Altimas, incorporating AWD drivetrains and more comfortable, utilitarian bodies and interiors.

I noticed it when I lifted the seat for greater comfort, and it stood out immediately. When I'd stop it would rock forward. I do feel it's a safety issue even if Nissan doesn't.

Don't get me wrong I love the truck. I have absolutely no interest in getting rid of it, and wouldn't want to change much other then that bracket. I can tell you that I will definitely be getting another one. Preferably a brand new one next time.

In all actuality, the '09 redesign was more than a "re-skin," it was a ground-up overhaul. The redesign was subtle enough to make it seem as if it was merely a facelift, but from my research, I've found that everything except for the core of the engine was redesigned. The 03 is definitely a year to avoid, as they have a disproportionate amount of driveline failures, and the '06-'08 are the more desirable first-gen years, as they have a few changes made to the driveline to make them more reliable. My 2006 S AWD has never had any major work done, knock on wood, and it's pushing 90,000 miles.

They made transmission improvements somewhere around 2006. The early ones are notorious for CVT failures.

My 04 SE hasn't even had any minor work done, much less major work - but I AM only at 72K miles (also, knock on wood, of course).

God bless ya and good luck with that. I have 100% faith in the Q6 engine and I'm glad they did the rework in the CVT for 06.

As for mine. It had 91014 when I bought it. I'm doing a lower ball joint, needed new tires, and only tray 4,5,6, work on the 6 disc changer. And those are the issues I've found so far. Still lovin my truck though. I'll get pics eventually.
