2003 Altima map light problem

Anytime I push the button for the map light, there is an odd spring type sound in the switch and the dome light goes out until I "reset" the circuit. shutting off the car then restarting it, or pushing the button on the door if the door is open.

Odd issue and I am thinking that there is something that is creating a short, just don't really know where to start looking without a wiring map.
