Hi all,

I recently bought a super clean 140k miles, 1 owner 2003 Pathfinder LE from the dealership that was a trade in. About 1k miles in, the ABS light came on and is on regularly now. A few hundred miles later, the 4X4 comes on about 15 mins after driving. The HI/LO 4X4 are both functioning properly once engaged, but understand that the ABS light is what is triggering the 4X4 light to eventually come on.

I've searched the forum for what others have done to "resolve" the ABS issue, but my main question is this: before the 4X4 gets thrown, if I engage either the HI/LO 4X4, will it stay in 4X4, or will it eventually kick it back to 2X once the 4X4 light comes on? I plan on getting up into the hills to test it out but don't know when I'll be able to swing that so figured I'd as the forum first.

For what it's worth, upon testing w/out a scanner the blinking ABS lights are showing that both of the front and 1 of the rear ABS sensors are showing as faulty. Any guidance on that part would be appreciated as well.

Thanks!

It would more than likely kick it back into 2WD. That is what my 2004 does when I get the light. If it thinks there is a fault, it goes to 2WD and won't let you change to 4WD until the fault is cleared.

As for the ABS sensor, you can google that and get relevant results for the parts. Pick your parts supplier and order it. First, I'd make sure they are properly connected and not drenched in oil, brake fluid, or some other fluid.

Thanks for the feedback nickelghandi, I'll do exactly that. Love the Futurama quote...so true.
